Summary

The ALSC Wood Packaging Material (WPM) program, operating under the Board of Review currently has 15 accredited independent third-party agencies with current operations of these agencies extending to approximately 5300 facilities.  The accredited third-party agencies can provide information regarding becoming licensed to produce compliant WPM under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade, or to provide information regarding nearby licensed facilities which can supply compliant WPM.

The WPM program operates to monitor adherence to the requirements of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade.  The ALSC WPM Policy and WPM Enforcement Regulations implement this program for heat treated WPM.  The ALSC Fumigated Wood/ Fumigated WPM Policy and Fumigated Wood/ Fumigated WPM Enforcement Regulations implement this program for fumigated wood/ fumigated WPM.

The Board of Review discharges this function pursuant to the Memorandum of Understandings with the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
